Founder and Executive Chairman of the LASCO Affiliated Companies, Lascelles Chin, has died.
Mr. Chin died in Miami Florida on Saturday night.
He was 86.
The veteran businessman was one of Jamaica's most distinguished and respected entrepreneurs, a pioneering exporter, philanthropist and a much-honoured leader in Jamaica and the Caribbean.
The country's leaders and members of the business community have been paying tribute to the renowned businessman.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness has hailed Mr. Chin as a visionary leader and advocate for change.
Mr. Holness said Mr. Chin's entrepreneurial prowess transformed LASCO into a household name, while his philanthropy uplifted countless lives.
Arnold Foote, CEO of Advertising and Marketing (Jamaica) Ltd CEO, who spoke with Radio Jamaica News, remembered Mr. Chin's as a brilliant businessman with unique ideas, who also had a passion for the development of Jamaica.
Mr. Chin was the executive chairman of Lasco Manufacturing, Lasco Financial Services, and Lasco Distributors.
The three entities make up the LASCO Affiliated Companies, established in 1988.
He received a number awards for his entrepreneurship and philanthropy, including Jamaica's fourth highest civilian honour, the Order of Jamaica, in 2001.
Mr. Chin was born in Bog Walk, St. Catherine but grew up in Kendal, Manchester, and Balaclava, St. Elizabeth.
