Little girl blamed for infant’s death

The Spanish Town police in St. Catherine are carrying out an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a two month old baby girl in Irish Pen Wednesday morning.

The infant has been identified as Rihanna Anderson.

It is reported that about 10 o' clock Sunday morning, the baby's mother, 18-year-old Shelly-Ann Williamson was at home when she was alerted by a relative that something was wrong with the infant.

"I stepped around the back to look for something to eat when I heard my cousin cry out that the baby's crying. We ran to the bedroom and we didn't see the baby on the bed, my cousin looked under the bed and saw the baby bloody and bitten up," said Ms. Williams.

"I ran to the hospital with the baby and they looked on the bites and said it wasn't the bites was the problem it was the baby's head. The baby's head was bashed in, blood running out of the baby's nose,"

"They called me and said is a little girl bite up the baby and when she heard my cousin cry out she flung the baby under the bed. So that burst the baby head," she said.

The baby was rushed to the hospital where she was examined and pronounced dead.

It is alleged that a four year old girl is responsible for the death of the child.

When the RJR News team tried to get a response from the girl's parents they refused to comment and referred us to the police.

A police source confirmed that the incident was reported to them.

Persons in the community are alleging that it is not the first time that the four-year-old has attacked other children.

According to the residents they have repeatedly related their concerns to the parents to no avail.
