Man charged with 2024 murder of higgler in Duhaney Park

The St. Andrew South Criminal Investigations Branch has charged a man with a murder committed at the Duhaney Park Recreational Park in February last year.
 
Akeem Copeland, a 27-year-old chef of Scarlett Road in Spanish Town, St. Catherine and Riverside Drive, New Haven, St. Andrew is also charged with seven other offences.
 
They are wounding with intent; assault at common law; possession of a prohibited weapon; possession of prohibited ammunition; using a firearm to commit a felony; conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to wounding with intent.
 
It was reported that about 9:25 on the morning of February 21, 2024, a man armed with a gun attacked people at the recreational park.
 
Lishaun Swaby, 34, otherwise called 'Flava' - a higgler of Molboro Avenue, New Haven - was killed, while a woman was wounded.
 
A police officer who was close by responded to the incident and was fired on by the attacker. He escaped injury.
 
The St. Andrew South police are urging individuals who have been listed as wanted or as persons of interest to come forward and speak with investigators at the Hunts Bay Criminal Investigations Branch.
