Ishmael St. Aubyn Davis, the licensed firearm holder charged for the controversial shooting death of a resident of Tavern Avenue in Papine, St. Andrew, was granted $2 million bail when he appeared before the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court on Thursday.
The 52-year-old, otherwise called 'Mark', was charged for the murder of 57-year-old Norris Farquharson, a welder of 30 Tavern Avenue in Papine.
Investigators say on May 27, about 7 a.m., the men had a heated dispute in their community. During the dispute, Mr. Davis pulled his firearm and shot Mr. Farquharson.
The incident was caught on CCTV.
After viewing the footage, investigators arrested Mr. Davis, who claimed he acted in self-defence.
His attorneys, Peter Champagnie, KC and Samoi Campbell, presented additional footage of the incident captured from different angles than the video currently circulating on social media.
Those videos suggest that at the time of the incident, Mr. Davis was acting in self-defence.
A knife was also recovered from the scene.
Mr. Davis is to return to court on July 14.
