A man who pleaded guilty to killing another man in a machete attack in St. Catherine, has been sentenced to four years in prison.
Justice Bertram Morrison handed down the sentence in the St. Catherine Circuit Court.
Lamar Hall, 29, pleaded guilty to the murder of Paul Chambers, otherwise called 'Rasta', of Browns Town district in St. Catherine.
Prior to sentencing, his attorney Deanna Mitchell told that the court that her client pleaded guilty and spent five and half years in custody and that he had a mental problem.
Justice Morrison said a sentence of 15 years was being considered, but Hall benefitted from his guilty plea and time spent in custody.
It was reported that on April 1, 2019, Hall attacked Chambers with a machete and chopped him 23 times in his back.
Chambers was later pronounced dead at hospital.
