Mayor of Montego Bay Glendon Harris is to investigate claims by a newspaper writer that a member of the St James Parish Council is involved in illegal activities, including the lottery scam.
The subject was brought up by former Mayor Charles Sinclair during the weekly sitting of the Parish Council.
Mr Sinclair read portions of the "Western Mirror" article and suggested that the allegations point to one specific member of the council.
He said the issue needs to be thoroughly investigated as it affects the integrity of the council.
In response, Mayor Harris said he would be seeking legal advice on the matter and take action accordingly.
