Mike Henry vows to pursue debate on reparations

Central Clarendon Member of Parliament, MP, Mike Henry, is promising that early in the new year he will continue his pursuit for a Parliamentary debate on reparations from Britain for slavery.

Mr. Henry was left disappointed because the House of Representatives has gone on recess without the matter being debated.

However, he is stepping up his efforts for next year.

“I hope they give me one (date)very early in January. The Prime Minister had agreed with me it’s a conscience vote, because I don’t want it to be one side or the other. And that conscience vote…let us vote whether we are entitled to reparations as stated and to be put in the motion; and by extension let’s take it to the International Court of Justice where they can be decided as to whether it’s a just act or not.”

The Central Clarendon MP was speaking on Beyond The Headlines on Thursday.
