Evon Redman, MP for St. Elizabeth North East
Thieves stole millions of dollars in cash after breaking into a hardware store operated by Member of Parliament for St. Elizabeth North East, Evon Redman, on Coke Drive in Santa Cruz.
Mr. Redman discovered the break-in sometime after 7 o'clock Wednesday morning.
He told Radio Jamaica News that the thieves took a safe.
"I discovered that the lock on the gate to the showroom was cut and upon careful examination, we realised that the locks on the shutters were cut. I entered the front door of the shop only to see that the office was all (ransacked), the storage area where I had my vault (ransacked) and the vault missing," he said.
Mr. Redman said the incident took him by surprise as he recently boosted security at the store.
