MOE says its all systems go for GSAT

The Ministry of Education says all is in place for the sitting of the Grade Six Achievement Test, GSAT later this week.

The two day exam is scheduled for Thursday, March 22 and Friday, March 23.

Approximately 44 thousand primary and preparatory school students will be sitting the test.

Speaking at a press conference this morning, Ministry officials said the competence based transition policy will be used in this year's exam.  The policy ensures that all students must be certified literate in order to sit the test.

The Ministry says schools that operate as examination centres will be closed on Thursday and Friday.  Meanwhile, Education Minister, Reverend Ronnie Thwaites says the Ministry will be moving to improve the exam.

Reverend Thwaites says a team of local and international persons will shortly be assessing the test to find out if it meets the requirement for secondary education readiness.

He says more details on the review will be given at a later date.
