Mother accused of wounding her son - remanded

A 30-year-old mother-of-two who was arrested for badly wounding her 12-year-old son after she allegedly threw boiling water on him will have to spend more time behind bars.
The incident occurred on November 24, 2011.

The accused, Tasha Stephenson of Arnett Gardens, St. Andrew, was on the run for two months before surrendering to the police on January 13.Allegations before the court are that the complainant came from school in dirty khakis.

The court was told that Ms. Stephenson asked her son why he was in that state, and he reportedly explained that he had gotten into a fight.
It's understood that an irate Miss Stephenson proceeded to boil water in a microwave then threw it on her son.
The medical report produced in Court revealed that the 12-year-old sustained burns on his leg, chest, and other parts of his body.

An attempt by Miss Stephenson's attorney to secure bail on her behalf was unsuccessful.
In denying bail, Senior Resident Magistrate, Judith Pusey, said the matter before her was very serious, and that another child was under the care of the accused.
RM Pusey ordered Miss Stephenson remanded until February 14.
