Mother & daughter arrested with teen for stolen money

Two more persons have been held in connection with the case involving a youth who is charged with stealing thousands of US and Jamaican dollars from his foster father.

The teen's 16-year old girlfriend and her 40-year old mother have now been arrested and charged with simple larceny, receiving stolen property and conspiracy.

All three are to appear in court on December 9.

RJR News first reported on Sunday that the 17-year old boy, who is from Gutters in St Catherine, was taken in by the man as his adopted son.

Between November and December 6 this year, the man realised that he was missing money and other items including jewellery and clothing and called in the police.

It was later found out that the boy had taken US$10,000 and J$400,000 which he allegedly used to go a shopping spree, started building a house and gave some of the money to a relative.

At the time of his arrest he was reportedly held with US$1,000 and J$66,000.
