Mrs. Marley-Booker O.D.

  Cedella Marley-Booker will be posthumously awarded the Order of Distinction, O.D. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ken Baugh made the announcement Monday morning while officiating for Prime Minister Bruce Golding at the funeral ceremony for the mother of reggae legend, Bob Marley.

Dr. Baugh told the congregation at the Ethiopian Orthodox Church on Maxfield Avenue in Kingston, that the government decided to give out the posthumous award because of Mrs. Marley-Booker's ability to inspire through her own struggles and achievements.

The Deputy Prime Minister said Mrs. Marley-Booker was always motivated to better herself and to look after her children despite tragedy, and poverty.

In a tribute to her late mother-in-law, Rita Marley said the posthumous award from the government was well deserved.

Mrs. Marley-Booker was interred at the Marley Mausoleum in Nine Miles, St. Ann beside her son, Bob.
