The increase in Jamaica's National Minimum Wage and the Minimum Wage for Industrial Security Guards takes effect today, March 1.
The National Minimum Wage has moved from $5,600 to $6,200 for a 40-hour work week.
Industrial security guards will receive $8,854 for a 40-hour work week, up from $8,198.
The new rates resulted from recommendations submitted by the Minimum Wage Advisory Commission, after island-wide consultations.
