New Nursing Council to be named

Concerns that the Nurses Association of Jamaica (NAJ) had with the regulatory body, the Nursing Council may soon be addressed.

Plans are being made by the Ministry of Health to make changes to the Nursing Council.

The NAJ has expressed its concern about the Registrar of the Nursing Council and its practices relating to the re-licensing of nurses.

NAJ president Edith Allwood Anderson told RJR news that at a meeting with Health Minister Ruddy Spencer it was agreed that some changes will be made to the body.

"He told us that it was time for the new Council and new Chairman to be named. As a matter of fact following the change of guard with the government that should have been done, so he says he will do that in the next two weeks," said Mrs. Allwood-Anderson.

The Ministry of Health Wednesday delivered on its promise to the NAJ to appoint all nurses acting in their posts for a long period.
