theatre director and producer Norman Rae is dead.
Mr. Rae was found dead at his home in Stony Hill, St. Andrew Thursday morning.
According to reports, his gardener went to the house and observed that Mr. Rae was not outside as he normally is.
The gardener then checked inside the house and reportedly found Mr. Rae dead.
The cause of his death is not yet known.
Between 1956 and 1970, Norman Rae was a reviewer and special writer for fine arts, theatre, film and dance.
Between 1978 and 1983, he wrote the weekly newspaper column, 'A Line from the Tower of Babel'.
He received a Silver Musgrave award in 1996 for his contribution to Jamaican theatre arts.
