National Road Safety Council is reporting a reduction in road deaths compared with previous months.
Dr. Lucien Jones, Vice Chair of the National Road Safety Council, said 20 road users died in July.
"It's a trend which started in June when 26 people died, compared to 38 in February and 38 in March. If we can manage to continue this trend, a lot of lives will be saved at the end of the year," he reasoned.
Dr. Jones urged motorists to "emancipate themselves" from bad practices that contributes to road crashes.
"So the message from this is to emancipate yourself, drivers and pedestrians, from the mental slavery of driving too fast and crashing and dying. Emancipate yourself from the mental slavery of not wearing seat belts and not wearing helmets when you are riding or driving. Emancipate yourself from the mental slavery, from the temptation to drink alcohol and drive. These things will prevent you from staying in your lane and causing you to crash. We can do much better," he charged.
