The police have confirmed that 27-year-old Cuthbert Lambert, the parent who was killed near the Christiana Moravian Primary and Infant School on Friday morning had been out on bail in connection with the murder of a minor, six years ago.

Commanding Officer for the Manchester Police, Deputy Superintendent Carey Duncan, who was providing an update on the incident, said Mr. Cuthbert was reporting on condition of bail for the offence allegedly committed in 2018.

Mr. Lambert had just dropped off his five-year-old stepdaughter when, upon leaving the school's compound, armed men opened fire, killing him at the scene.

DSP Duncan said the police are still trying to determine a motive for the attack.

Heightened police presence

In the meantime, the Commanding Officer said the Manchester police remain on high alert to actively respond to threats amid a spate of violent incidents in the parish over the last three days.

The security forces, he said, have heightened their presence within the last two days and have launched "an offensive against persons that we believe are perpetrators of the violence" in the parish.

DSP Duncan said an application has been submitted to extend the 48-hour curfew, which expires at 6 p.m. Friday, for another two days.

The measure was imposed in Mayday, Barnstable and surrounding communities.

The initial security response followed a double murder in Lower Albion on Tuesday night.

Following that incident, a man was also gunned down on Wednesday at a bar in Christiana.
