Paulwell hopes Lime will eliminate roaming rates throughout the region

Phillip Paulwell, Minister with responsibility for the telecommunications sector, is hoping to have LIME join Digicel in eliminating roaming rates throughout the region by the end of the year.
Digicel eliminated roaming rates on October 1 charging customers the same rate they would pay in their home market.

However, Lime has so far not followed suit.

“The timetable that I had in relation to Lime was the end of the year, and so I’m still working on that, bearing in mind also that we are concerned about roaming charges for data. We expect that both companies will move in that accord. We are very pleased that Digicel has moved in terms of voice; it has really assisted in the travels in the region. People are now expressing delight that it is one rate for all the countries using your home territory base,” said Mr. Paulwell.
