Ahead of the February 26 Local Government Election, Prime Minister Andrew Holness continues to tout the economic achievements of his administration.

Speaking at the Jamaica Dental Association Annual Conference on Tuesday evening, Mr. Holness said his administration has created more than 150,000 new jobs and has been able to control the country's debt crisis.

He said inflation is now at a manageable level, but admitted that Jamaicans have not yet begun to feel the full effect of the economic policies to curb inflation.

"We have done more than any other administration to protect fixed income workers, to protect pensioners, and to protect the poor, than any other administration by this one policy metric of targeting and controlling inflation. So there is a lag time between us establishing this institutional reform, this economic management, and these lovely statistics and numbers that I've just given you, into household benefits. And that's where Jamaica is right now," he asserted.

Mr. Holness added that the government intends to spend $40 billion over the next two years to improve the country's road network.
