Prime Minister Andrew Holness
By Nakinskie Robinson
Prime Minister Andrew Holness has announced that the Greater Mandeville Water Supply programme will be expanded to provide piped water to the community of Bellefield in Mandeville, Manchester.
Mr. Holness says his administration remains committed to improving the living conditions of Jamaicans.
He says the government's record of achievements is proof that the Jamaica Labour Party fulfills its promises to the Jamaican people.
"The challenge is that communities like Bellefield are not part of what they call the utility service area, meaning you don't get water from NWC. But we are going to expand...the Greater Mandeville Water Supply and make sure that you are part of the utility service of the NWC instead of having to depend on small water supply projects all around. That is what your government is going to do for you," he vowed.
Mr. Holness also urged supporters in Bellefield to fully endorse the JLP's councillor candidate Shaniel Dixon for Monday's local government election.
"We have matured above those petty divisions to look at the person and their platform and their abilities. And that is what I urge my comrade friends across the way to do. Look at Shaniel's person, who she is. Look at her platform, what she promises to do and what she has done; and look at her ability and her passion, and those will lead you to the right decision to make," he asserted.
The Prime Minister and JLP leader was speaking during a party meeting in Bellefield, Manchester on Tuesday night.
Ms. Dixon will be going up against the People's National Party candidate, Mario Mitchell.
