The People's National Party (PNP) says its manifesto for the February 26 local government election is ready to be released to the public.

PNP President Mark Golding says the document, which contains the party's policies and programmes, will be available this week.

"I expect it to come out tomorrow (Monday) or Tuesday. It is already there and I am comfortable with it because it sets out a progressive platform of policies and programmes to take local government to the next level. And when we form government that is what we will be doing for local government," he declared in Portmore on Sunday at the presentation of candidates in the local government and general elections for St. Catherine Plains.

Participants in the first local government debate, held on Thursday, were asked whether they would be publishing a manifesto ahead of the election.

Assurances were given from both parties that the documents were completed and would be released soon.

'Campaign to win'

Declaring that an election is not won until after all the votes are counted, Mr. Golding urged supporters to intensify their campaigning to encourage Jamaicans to cast their ballots for the People's National Party on February 26.

He said if the PNP wins, it will be historic.

"The PNP has not won an election since 2011. We're now in 2024. So all Comrades, take this thing very, very serious. I don't want to hear nobody tell mi seh wi win already because I've heard that before and nut'n never did guh suh then. We win when them count the ballot them and we have more than the Labourite. That's when we win. So Comrades, between now and next week Monday, let us do the work on the ground. Prepare ourselves for the Monday so that we can execute our plans for election day in a very efficient way, in a very effective way and in a way that will give us the victory," he urged supporters.
