More than 100 employees of Point Village Hotel in Negril turned up Tuesday to hear that they had no jobs.
The workers who had been laid off since May this year and were to resume their duties Tuesday were reportedly refused entry to the premises.
They were instead handed redundancy letters.
The situation infuriated the employees who claim that they were looking forward to resuming work in order to meet their back to school obligations.
They claim that the manner in which they have been made redundant is underhanded and cruel.
They say no one is willing to speak to them about the situation.
Some persons say they have been employed to the hotel for more than 15 years and cannot understand the treatment being meted out to them.
One man told us the workers are fed up with what they describe as a run around.
“I have two fortnights to be paid for and they don’t come to us or say anything ton us. No money…everything is just futile,” the employee said.
They are asking for something definitive claiming it is unfair to them to be wondering when they'll be getting their hard earned money.
Attempts to contact the hotel proved futile as all the numbers listed were said to be out of service.
Up to newstime, the workers said they had still not been paid nor have they heard from the hotel's management.
