A Policeman attached to the Bluefields police station in Westmoreland who committed suicide in Westmoreland on Friday night has been identified as Neil Buchanan, 36.
Constable Buchanan reportedly shot himself while on duty at the station in full view of his colleagues.
Reports are that about 8 o' clock, he was on station guard in the company of two other officers.While talking to them, he reportedly said he felt like shooting himself.
He then pulled his service firearm and shot himself in the head.
Constable Buchanan was pronounced dead shortly afterwards by a doctor.
RJR news has further learnt that Constable Buchanan was transferred from Kingston to Westmoreland in 2007.
According to a source, he's been complaining for some time, about family matters, and often expressed a desire to return to Kingston where his wife and family now live.
