Police handling of crash victim in Clarendon being questioned by relatives

A family in Clarendon is questioning the actions of the police in their handling of a crash that claimed the life of a 12 year-old girl in Kemps Hill on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Marla Richards, a student of Vere Technical High School.

Marla was reportedly hit by a bus along the Kemps Hill main road about 4:30 pm.

She was pronounced dead at hospital.

But the family says the police subsequently took the body to the Lionel Town Police station and later called a particular funeral home to collect it.
