Police High Command targets corrupt personnel

The  Police High Command says the programme to remove corrupt police personnel from the Jamaica Constabulary Force is on in earnest.  Senior Superintendent Selwin Haye of the Jamaica Constabulary Force's Anti Corruption Branch, who this morning outlined key performance indicators for the unit, said more than 200 police personnel have been barred from re- enlisting or have been dismissed over the past 21 months.

“We see 70 members being refused enlistment so far this year…last year we saw 137 people being removed , this is continuinr".  Said SSP Haye.

He  noted that policemen from the rank of Inspector to Constable have to apply for re-enlistment every five years.

He says the re-enlistment process incorporates a performance review and other job-related measurements.

SSP Haye says on completion of the assessment, if the police personnel are found wanting, the Police High Command decides whether to allow re-enlistment.
