Police thwart kidnapping attempt in St. Elizabeth

Swift action by the Santa Cruz Police and their colleagues at the Organised Crime Unit in Kingston led to the rescue of a woman who was kidnapped in St. Elizabeth Wednesday.

Thirty year old Jenene Simes of Maryland in the United States was travelling towards Santa Cruz when the car in which she and a friend were travelling was signalled to stop.

The car reportedly had a siren and resembled a police car.

The women stopped and the car was searched by men purporting to be cops.

The women were told that bullets were found in the car and one of them was instructed to drive to the police station but Miss Simes was ordered into the car in which the men were travelling.

The police located the Ms. Simes in Jacks Hill St. Andrew, and say she has since been returned to her family in what appears to be good physical condition.
