Policeman dies after being shot in Portmore, St. Catherine

A member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force who was hospitalised after being attacked and shot at his home in Bridgeport in Portmore, St. Catherine, last week, has died.
 
Sergeant Patrick Mahoney, died in hospital on Monday morning.
 
This was confirmed by Senior Superintendent Christopher Phillips, head of Area Five Police.
 
Sergeant Mahoney was shot in his yard in Bridgeport by unknown assailants last Thursday.
 
Residents heard gunfire and later found the policeman with multiple bullet wounds.
 
He was rushed to hospital for treatment.
 
The Greater Portmore Criminal Investigations Branch has not yet established a motive for the shooting.
