The policeman who was injured by a motorist on the Bogue main road in St. James on Saturday has been released from hospital.
The motorist, who is from Green Island in Hanover, remains hospitalised under police guard. He is said to be in stable condition.
He was shot after he reportedly attempted to hit another cop with the car.
About 5:45 p.m., the two constables were part of a team in St. James searching for the motorist who had reportedly ignored a police signal to stop in Hopewell, Hanover.
A Vehicular Check Point was setup along the Bogue main road.
It is reported that the driver again disobeyed a signal to stop and used the vehicle to hit the policeman.
He attempted to also hit the second policeman, who in turn fired a shot.
The police say the motor vehicle was not insured and its fitness certificate had expired.
The driver will be questioned by the police.
