A teacher of a Portland based school has been charged with sexual offences in relation to a minor.
The 27-year-old educator has been charged with two counts of having sexual intercourse with a person under 16 and two counts of grievous sexual assault.
The sexual assault of the 14-year-old student reportedly occurred this month.
The teacher was taken before the Portland Parish Court on Wednesday and remanded until next month.
He was arrested after he engaged in sexual intercourse with the student on January 18.
The child reportedly complained of feeling pain after returning home and was rushed to hospital.
Following a medical examination, a report was made to the police by the girl's family.
The teacher was arrested and later charged.
