Portmore Marine Outpost officially opened

Vendors and customers at the Portmore Fishing Village in the central parish of St. Catherine, should feel a greater sense of security now that a Police Outpost has been established in the area.

The Portmore Marine Outpost was officially opened on Tuesday by Owen Ellington, Commissioner of Police.

The Outpost will serve as a community Police Post, as well as a Marine Outpost for the Jamaica Constabulary Forces’ (JCF) Marine Division.

The Commissioner promised that the police have a consistent presence in the area to protect the fisher folk and those who conduct business at the facility.

He said since the police were deployed to the village they have intercepted shipments of guns coming into the island.
