Princess Margaret Hospital to get $38.6M fence from the NHF

The National Health Fund (NHF) has approved a $38.6 million grant to construct perimeter fencing at the hospital.

The donation comes after concern was raised about security at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Morant Bay, St. Thomas,

The fencing will secure the property which includes the hospital as well as the St. Thomas Health Department and Morant Bay Health Centre.

In recent times, stray animals roaming the compound have also posed a health threat at the institution.

"The lack of this fence has been one of the biggest concerns for the staff here because there is access from all points of the compound," said Coleen Wright, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital.

"Staff and patients will feel more protected when the fence is completed," she added.

The NHF says both reinforced block walls and PVC coated chain link fence construction will be used for the nearly 1,300 metres of fencing which will enclose the compound.
