Reputed leader of the Bobo Gang sentenced to 15 years in prison

Westmoreland's most wanted man and reputed leader of the Bobo Gang, Andre Brown, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

A report from the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) says Brown was sentenced in the Western Regional Gun Court on Wednesday.

He was charged with two counts of shooting with intent and illegal possession of a firearm after he reportedly fired at the police on April 22 this year.

He was captured a day later when he reported to the Negril Police Station on condition of bail.

When he appeared in court on Wednesday, he was convicted on the charges and sentenced to 15 years on each count to be served concurrently.

In a statement on Thursday night, Commanding Officer for the Westmoreland Division, Superintendent Egbert Parkins, said the conviction of Brown has put a major dent in the operations of the Bobo Gang.

He commended his team and witnesses for their collective effort in the capture and conviction of the gang leader.
