Russia has launched one of the largest drone attacks on Ukraine since the war began, mainly targeting overnight the region in and around the capital Kyiv.
This according to the Ukrainian military, which said all 89 drones fired were shot down.
Military officials on Wednesday said it marks the largest attack on the capital so far this year, and the seventh time Russia has targeted Kyiv this month.
Kyiv officials said the massive attack lasted more than seven hours and the drones came in two waves, adding that not a single drone reached its target.
There were no hits to residential or critical infrastructure and no casualties in the Kyiv region, according to regional military head Ruslan Kravchenko.
But 13 houses were damaged and rescuers extinguished one fire caused by the downed drones.
Russia also attacked another section of the country with an X-59 guided missile from the airspace of the occupied Kherson region, which Ukraine said it also shot down.
But, separate attacks on eastern and southern Ukraine killed at least two people Wednesday morning.
The Kremlin did not comment on the attacks in its regular briefing with reporters on Wednesday.
