Schools in Lithuania flooded with bomb threats

Lithuanian authorities say schools have been inundated with bomb threats since Friday morning, following a pattern of similar incidents in neighbouring countries.

Officials say the coordinated mass attack began late Thursday and involved hundreds of emails sent from a server within the European Union.

In Estonia, a wave of threatening spam emails started late Wednesday.

Authorities say schools in Lithuania received 750 emails today alone, with more coming in.

Schools were asked to remain open, but many chose to suspend classes over several days as a precaution.

Neighbouring investigators are collaborating with the United States and Poland, where similar hostile activities were reported earlier.
