The Police have issued an appeal for eye witnesses to Monday
morning's shooting at the Double Diamond Gaming Lounge to come forward.
A release from Police High Command says all persons who were either inside or near to the Double Diamond Gaming Lounge on the Washington Boulevard at the time of, or before Monday morning's incidents are to contact the police as quickly as possible.
These persons can call the Hunt's Bay Police at 923-7111 and 990-8851.
In addition, persons with information can call Operation Kingfish at 811; Crime Stop at 311 and Police Control at 119.
The multiple killings of patrons at the club early Monday morning sent shock waves throughout the Corporate Area.
Reports are that the guns started blazing inside the Double Diamond club just after 4 a.m. when a man believed to be a soldier went berserk.
Reports are that what started out as a birthday celebration at the Double Diamond Club turned ugly when a soldier reportedly got into an altercation with another patron and started firing wildly.
When the shooting subsided, the number of dead and injured was hard to determine in the mayhem.
Three men lay on the club's floor, killed instantly, 4 others were taken to hospital where police confirm another man succumbed to his injuries.
Some reports say as many as 13 persons were injured either by bullets or while trying to scurry for cover.
The Police confirm that among the dead is nineteen year old Kemar Kerr.
Kemar's brother was also shot and was admitted to hospital.
De'jun Powell, 19, and William Wilberforce,28, were also killed.
The police have not released the name of the other dead man.
Up to late Monday evening, the officers were still carrying out a detailed assessment of the area.
Allegations are that the club was swinging with celebrants when the soldier, who is a Corporal, became ticked off by persons dancing with an associate.
The soldier was reportedly intoxicated after consuming several alcoholic beverages.
The incident has left communities in Duhaney Park and its environs in mourning.
While unable to confirm that the original shooter is a member of the JDF, the police did say that he was in a stable condition in hospital.
They say the incident stemmed from an altercation between two male patrons and are treating the case as a homicide for now.
Meanwhile, The Jamaica Defense Force, JDF confirmed that a soldier who is the owner of a licensed firearm was involved in a shoot-out with other patrons at the night club.
However, the release said the cause of the altercation was not known.
The JDF has also urged eyewitnesses to go to the police with what they know.
The JDF has mounted its own investigation into the shootings.
