A small plane crashed on a major road in the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince, on Wednesday, killing at least six people.
The aircraft was on its way from the capital to the south-eastern port town of Jacmel when it crashed.
The pilot survived the initial crash but later died in hospital.
Officials said engine failure was to blame.
The country's civil aviation authority says the aircraft sent a distress signal some 20 minutes after take-off.
