The cost of living rose at its slowest pace in four months during August as declines in the price of electricity last month, tempered increases in rental rates for land line telephones.
The Statistical Institute of Jamaica says its measures show consumer prices rose an average 0.6 percent in August.
The increase means inflation for the September quarter so far is 1 point 4 percent which is well within the Bank of Jamaica target rate of 1 and a half to 2 and a half percent. For the year to date, inflation is at 3 point 8 percent compared with the more than 12 percent it was a year ago.
