Smoke is still emanating from West Brook Avenue in Riverton City where a bale of used tyres in an open lot caught fire on Monday morning.
The blaze started shortly after 6am, sending plumes of thick black smoke into the air.
The Jamaica Fire Brigade's Divisional Head for Kingston, Shaun Martin, who said operation is winding down added that there are questions as to how the fire started.
As a result, a probe will begin after the operation.
Meanwhile Director of Operations at the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) Percival Stewart, says due to the value attached there has been an increase in persons hoarding used tyres.
He said the fire was in an open space where used tyres were being illegally stored and the authority was unaware of this .
