Some staff at Cornwall Regional and Savanna-la-Mar hospitals protest

Medical technicians and other staff at Cornwall Regional Hospital in St. James and Savanna-la-Mar Hospital in Westmoreland have taken protest action in response to the apparent failure of their respective hospitals in addressing long-standing critical issues affecting welfare and working conditions.

The group of protesters include medical technologists, laboratory technical assistants and laboratory attendants at Cornwall Regional Hospital along with medical technologists, health records clerks and health records technicians at Savanna-la-Mar Hospital.

The withdrawal of service started about 8 a.m.

The Union of Technical Administrative and Supervisor Personnel (UTASP) says it has written repeatedly to the management of the hospitals, dating back to July and August 2023, regarding several unresolved matters.
