St. Catherine man pleads guilty to stealing UC Rusal copper wires

 
A 21-year-old man from St. Catherine has pleaded guilty to stealing copper wires valid at $750,000 from bauxite company UC Rusal.
 
Davian Bailey, of Byndloss district, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to simple larceny and malicious destruction of property during an appearance before the St. Catherine Parish Court. 
 
Senior Parish Court Judge Desiree Alleyne ordered a social inquiry report to assist with sentencing. 
 
Bailey was remanded until February 16 next year. 
 
According to court records, on December 1, company security personnel on patrol observed Bailey cutting wires at the number 4 well in Banbury district in St. Catherine. 
 
He was caught in the act with several feet of copper wire and a hacksaw blade found inside a bag he was carrying. 
 
Bailey was handed over to the Linstead police, who subsequently charged him.
