Residents of Railway Lane in St. Catherine have appealed for the Police High Command to make adjustments to the use of private vehicles by the police following Sunday's quadruple killing.

A fifth individual was shot and injured.

The residents told Radio Jamaica News that they were caught off guard after the gunmen drove into the lane about 7:45 p.m. and identified themselves as police.

The men alighted a white Nissan AD Wagon and opened gunfire on a group playing cards along the road.

Kirk Barrett, 24, Desmond Bloomfield, 34, Horace Lettman, 23, and Nicardo Moore were killed.

A 38-year-old man who was driving his car in the vicinity of Railway Lane was also shot by the gunmen.

A resident said the use of unmarked vehicles by the police should not continue without changes, as their lives are at risk.

"Take the private vehicle dem off a di road wid di police dem," the woman urged before conceding: "If di police dem aguh drive private vehicle, keep unuh window down...mek wi si seh a police."

The resident, who said one of the victims was her cousin, claimed that the men killed are not known to be involved in criminal activities but were "business people".

She said Mr. Lettman had buried his mother on Sunday.
