St. Mary curfews

The police have extended the curfew in effect in sections of Retreat, Bailey's Vale, and Boscobel, St. Mary for another 48 hours.

The extension took effect at 6:00 p.m., Friday and will remain in effect until 6:00 p.m., Sunday.

The curfew was initially imposed in response to a spike in violence and increased tensions within the affected communities.

The police say the curfew forms part of continuing strategic efforts to suppress criminal activity, prevent reprisals, restore public confidence, prevent further escalation of violence, and address heightened fear and tension among residents.

Additionally, it is expected to assist in curbing an increase in motor vehicle thefts and break-ins in the affected areas.

In the meantime, a 48-hour curfew has been imposed for Tank Lane, Marson Town, and Crooked River in St. Mary.

That curfew took effect at 6:00 p.m., Friday and will remain in place until 6:00 p.m., Sunday.
