The National Environment and Planning Agency, NEPA, is to serve a stop and enforcement notice by today on the Sam Isaacs and Son funeral home regarding a plan to set up operations near New Kingston.
The company has established an office and showroom on Worthington Terrace in St. Andrew.
However, RJR News has obtained a copy of a letter issued on Friday by NEPA's Chief Executive Officer, Peter Knight, taking issue with the presence of the funeral parlour in the area.
It said the regulatory agency conducted an initial investigation into the establishment of a funeral parlour at 8 and half Worthington Terrace.
According to NEPA, the probe confirmed that a breach is occurring in contravention of the zoning for the area and the decision was made to take action.
In a newspaper advertisement yesterday Sam Isaacs and Son announced that it would be moving its operations from 1 Phoenix Avenue to the Worthington Terrace location.
