Students in Manchester Southern to be taught coding and AI

Karen Smith, acting Principal of Plowden Primary School

Approximately one thousand students from schools across Southern Manchester are set to benefit from computer coding and artificial intelligence.

This comes with the recent launch of a programme at the Plowden Primary and Infant School.

The initiative is a joint effort of web developer Gelevate, and Manchester Southern Member of Parliament, Robert Chin.

Dominic Gowdie, head of Gelevate,  says Jamaica is fifteen years behind the developed world in technology, and he wants to help  bridge that gap.

Karen Smith, acting Principal of Plowden Primary, says her students will benefit greatly from the introduction to Artificial Intelligence and programming.

One hundred laptops were presented to the institution to kick start its coding programme and website development.
