Support groups have been dispatched to Herbert Morrison High School in St. James following Sunday's killing of 16 year old Jayshenel Gordon who was a student at the institution.

Jayshenel and her 45 year-old mother, Dion Smith, were killed at their home.

They were reportedly murdered by Miss Smith's boyfriend.

Representatives from the Ministry of Education, past students of  Herbert Morrison as well as representatives of the church visited the school Monday to offer support to students who mourned Jayshenel's death.

Paul Adams, Principal of Herbert Morrison High School, described her as a quiet but involved student.

He said her schoolmates are finding it difficult to accept her death.

"She's missed...The boys are grieving but we are holding on strong. This is what the society churns out and we have to deal with it," lamented Mr. Adams.

He said counselling will continue until after Jayshenel is buried.
