Teen boy dies in Clarendon crash

 
A 14-year-old boy died in a single-vehicle crash on the New Road main road in Clarendon on Sunday evening. 
 
The deceased has been identified as Jaden Smith of Crawl River, Clarendon. 
 
The incident occurred about 6:30 p.m., some 800 metres south of the Cocoa Piece main road. 
 
It's reported that Jaden was a passenger in a Nissan Sunny motor car that was being driven by his father at excess speed in a southerly direction. 
 
On reaching a section of the New Road main road, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which rolled and spun 180 degrees, coming to a rest in a northerly direction. 
 
Jaden and his father were transported to hospital where the teenager died. 
 
Up to Sunday, Jamaica recorded 346 fatalities from 302 crashes since the start of the year. 
 
This compares with 340 fatalities from 294 crashes during the same period last year.
