The St. Catherine North Police say criminals are threatening the peace that Spanish Town has been enjoying, with three murders committed in the town between Sunday and Monday morning.
Two of the victims are unidentified.
In the latest incident, a man was shot while riding his bicycle along Pea Lane about 8 o'clock.
Explosions were heard and the police summoned.
Upon arrival, the man's body was observed with bullet wounds while clutching the bicycle.
On Sunday, about 9:20 a.m., a man was shot along Young Street.
The police reported that he was standing in the vicinity of a supermarket when three armed men pounced and opened fire.
The gunmen escaped on foot.
That scene was visited by Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Christopher Phillips, who is in charge of Area 5, and Commanding Officer for St. Catherine North Superintendent Hopton Nicholson.
Shortly after that incident, 25-year-old Adrian Boothe, also known as 'Munchie', of March Pen Road, was found with a stab wound to the neck in the town centre.
About 9:30, he was seen running from the vicinity of the train station on March Pen Road before collapsing.
The police say the necessary operational response has been activated to combat these incidents.
Superintendent Nicholson added that the police will employ all available means to keep public spaces safe, including the use of technology.
