The National Works Agency (NWA) says the timeline for the completion of the Marcus Garvey Drive expansion project has been extended.

The NWA had been hoping to finish the project this month ahead of the contractual timeframe in April. However, that was pushed back because of work yet to be completed.

Stephen Shaw, NWA Communication Manager, told RJR News that the outstanding work includes installation of street lamps and road markings.

"The corrective works are being done in so far as some of the drainage features are concerned, the access and entrance points to some of the business. Some of the areas we determined were a little bit too steep and these had to be corrected, and so we are insisting that these things be done before the contractor completes the work on the main carriage way. We wanted to ensure that all the things were properly tidied so that we would not have to go back...to do corrective work," said Mr. Shaw.
