Trafigura donation was repaid by sympathetic donor, says Pickersgill

Former People's National Party (PNP) Chairman Robert Pickersgill has revealed that the controversial $31 million that was deposited into the account of Colin Campbell Our Candidate (CCOC) Association by oil lifting company Trafigura was repaid by a sympathetic donor.

Mr. Pickergill said he was unaware of the operations of the account.

He made the revelation on Thursday morning during the Trafigura hearing now underway in the Supreme Court.

Former PNP General Secretary Colin Campbell on Wednesday revealed that Trafigura's Chief Executive Officer, Claude Dauphin, had specified that the bank account into which he would make the controversial donation should have no link to any political party.

Dutch company Trafigura is under investigation into whether it made a donation to the party, as campaign donations are prohibited by law in The Netherlands.
