Trinidad based ANSA McAL is set to acquire Berger Paints.

An statement on Friday said ANSA McAL will acquire Berger Paints' parent company, Lewis Berger Overseas Holdings, in an all cash transaction.

The sum was not disclosed.

The acquisition, which is subject to closing conditions and regulatory approvals, is expected to be closed during the July to September quarter.

Lewis Berger Overseas Holdings operates entities in Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago.

The three businesses have net sales of US$35 million.

Meanwhile, the union representing workers at Berger Paints in Jamaica is seeking a meeting with the management in the wake of reports that the company will soon have new owners.

The Union of Clerical, Administrative and Supervisory Employees (UCASE), which represents 40 workers at Berger said it has been left in the dark on the change in ownership.

UCASE President Vincent Morrison said he would be requesting a meeting with the current management of the company to be brought up to speed on the plans of the new owners.
